AKIRA
TL;DR
Akira is, more or less, Arceus' humansona. Well, more accurately, it's a "human" that Arceus created to take over Dawn/Lucas/Akari/Rei's (whoever’s) spot as the Legends Arceus protagonist. A small problem is that Akira can't die. This was good for its intended purpose- Hisui is a very dangerous place, so the ability to tank any hit it's possibly given seemed like a great idea. However, this quickly turned into Akira wandering the world, unsure what to do with itself when it completed its quest of saving Hisui (and the world at large) from the raging nobles and Volo’s plan.
PERSONALITY
Akira is an extremely enigmatic character-- they always have a casual demeanor to the point where it’s almost impossible to tell what they’re really thinking. Is the demeanor a facade? Is it the true Akira? Nobody knows, including Akira themself. They have genuine connections with very few people. For the most part, humans are pretty insignificant to them. Not in a malicious way, or that they view their lives as worthless, but that their lives simply pass by to quickly for it to really get attached.
HISTORY
Akira was effectively spawned into existence by Arceus right before the events of PL:A. It began life with a singular goal: close the space-time rift and stop Volo's plan. At first, Akira didn't have much of a personality- they rarely spoke, and on the occasions they did, it was a monotone and deadpan statement more than anything else.
Akira didn't get too attached to any of the people of Hisui, admittedly. It saw them as means to an end, not in a particularly malicious way, but simply in the way that they were either going to help them or get in their way. Arceus have mercy on you if you got in their way. The last time someone did, they got hit with a point blank Judgement.
Akira got its first real taste of an emotion beyond "mild annoyance" when they were kicked out of Jubilife Village. They had risked (metaphorical) life and limb to help these poor people out, and this is how they repay them? Sure, they didn't express it much, but they were seething under the surface.
After they eventually closed the rift and stopped Volo's plan (which may or may not have involved killing him,) they were left to their own devices. They had sort of expected to "despawn" after completing their quest- what was their purpose beyond that? Did they even have one? They didn’t like that idea. They began to wander the world aimlessly, unwittingly picking up a personality of their own. That personality was somewhat playful, relaxed, and extremely unsettling to many people. Akira did eventually learn how to blend into humanity better, but their imitation isn’t perfect. For one, they’re unnaturally tall and rather intimidating physically, so people are automatically put on edge a bit. They love to be casual and make small talk with people, but they’re… not the best at it.
They didn’t really care for a particular person on any level beyond mild interest and amusement until they met Dawn. They had the feeling that Team Galactic and that Cyrus guy were up to something malicious, so they went to investigate. Dawn, however, beat them to the punch. Akira figured that letting this human play out their role was better than intervening themself, so they decided to tag not far behind, just in case she got into any trouble she couldn’t handle.
Dawn quickly took notice and was unsettled. She was just trying to go on her journey, and now this freak was following her around? She tried to shake them off, but at every turn and major event, there Akira was, awaiting her arrival. She didn’t even know their name. Even though Akira wasn’t trying to be intimidating, they had this aura to them. This unsettling aura that she could never shake off, no matter how hard she tried to convince herself it was in her head.
Akira got attached to Dawn. Extremely attached. How could they not? This girl was doing all their work for them, and well, to boot. The best way I’ve put it is that Akira has a one-sided parasocial parental relationship with her. Things came to a head when Dawn ventured into the Distortion World. Akira felt something that resembled panic for the first time in their life- could a human survive in the Distortion World for any extended period of time? They had a hunch that Volo must have spent a little time in there, but it had been hours, and there was no sign of Dawn anywhere.
Akira felt a massive wave of relief when they encountered Dawn once again, out on the street like nothing had happened. She was obviously shaken from her experience in the Distortion World, which Akira had expected. She was just a child, after all. So, they did what anyone would do when comforting a child-- took her out to ice cream against her will. There, Akira finally told Dawn a little bit of their whole… deal. They said they had great interest in protecting Sinnoh, and that they began following her around to make sure she could fulfill her duty and step in if needed. They also finally bothered telling her their name. Dawn was somewhat comforted by this and having a name to the face-- but not by much.
Almost a year later, Dawn encountered Arceus through a bizarre series of events. And there, she realized that unsettling aura that Akira seemed to have was just the one Arceus does. She didn’t know what to make of this, so she kept her mouth shut. She hadn’t seen Akira since she became champion, anyway… It was probably just all in her head.
Akira, meanwhile, was back to their aimless wandering around the world. That was until, a few years later, a certain man named AZ made headlines for crashing a parade with a Pokemon battle-- and being apparently 3000 years old. Akira seemed to remember something about that… knowledge from Arceus, perhaps? They were intrigued and made a beeline for Kalos, trying to seek out the man of the hour themself.
(more to be added ahhhh)
TRIVIA
- Akira can use the move Judgement.
- They have a fear of Pokeballs- though, for the most part, they suck it up and keep their Pokemon in them. They're slightly afraid that the Pokeball might work on them...
- Their sense of pain is extremely dulled. As well as this, they can't die by any means, nor do they need to eat or drink- so they only eat for fun.
- They have a tendency to throw themself into harm's way just to see what happens. Not like it's going to hurt that badly or kill them.
